In this Webinar, you'll learn how to use real plants to create dimensional plant imagery on glass using Rick Silas’ Ice Glass technique. Rick developed this additional process, which he calls “Plant Pressing,” and has successfully used it to create many installation pieces including countertops, tiles, walls, backsplashes, tabletops, and hundreds of unique art pieces.

Although the finished pieces look quite complex, this is a very simple art form that requires no drawing skills to create an extremely realistic and dimensional image of almost any plant.

This is a HUGE value!

Rick Silas has been a working artist for the last thirty plus years in Canada. After five years of formal art studies, in Montreal and Calgary, he abandoned traditional mediums in favor of contemporary materials. In an effort to support himself while developing this new art form, he approached large corporations such as glass and plastic suppliers to take his work in trade for their materials. This allowed him to experiment with the new chemistry of these materials, without the usual financial constraints experienced by most young artists. Silas’ canvas became tempered plate glass, his paints the latest in liquid polymers and spray enamels. Twenty-five plus years of experimentation and thousands of pieces of successfully executed art and commercial installations has proven him to be a master of this dynamic medium.

Rick continues to pursue his artistic and inventive muse in British Columbia, Canada. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the province, he is inspired to create his signature glass paintings, glass sculptures and wood carvings.
